Description: The Alternative Fuel Vehicle Project (AFVP) is an interagency initiative to promote and deploy alternative fuel vehicles (AFV) in the state fleet. The program began in the early 1990s through the establishment of the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Project working group. Agencies participating in the working group include the Governor's Office of Energy and Community Services (ECS), the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Environmental Services- Air Resources Division. Currently, the state fleet consists of 13 electric vehicles, 39 flexible fuel vehicles, 14 natural gas vehicles, and 1 propane van. The AFVP intends to purchase an additional 12 natural gas vehicles for the state fleet over the next several years. Also check out the Granite State Clean Cities Coalition Vehicle Types: Goals:
