Energy Codes

Overview:

New Hampshire has two statewide energy codes, the Residential Energy Code and the Commercial and Industrial Energy Code. The Governor’s Office of Energy and Community Services (ECS) works in conjunction with the Public Utilities Commission to raise awareness of; and increase compliance with; the state’s current energy codes. Energy codes provide a variety of benefits to the average New Hampshire resident.

Benefits of statewide energy codes:

  • Save occupants money
  • Make housing more affordable
  • Establish a “Level Playing Field” among contractors and builders
  • Increase buying power of citizens by putting more money in their pockets
  • Prevent air pollution
  • Reduce reliance on foreign oil
  • Reduce emissions of greenhouse gasses associated with Global Warming

Upcoming Events:

ECS along with the Public Utilities Commission and state utilities will continue to sponsor Residential Energy Code Trainings for code officials, architects, builders, and engineers. We will also be beginning Commercial and Industrial Energy Code Trainings in 2002.
