Granite State Clean Cities Coalition

Overview:

Granite State Clean Cities Coalition (GSCCC) is a locally-based, voluntary, government-industry partnership to expand the use of alternatives to gasoline and diesel fuel in transportation. GSCCC will join the 82 current coalitions across the country, which makes up the national Clean Cities Program administered by the Department of Energy, in the coming months.  The fundamental purpose of GSCCC is to create a favorable market-driven environment that encourages the availability, procurement, and deployment of vehicles that meet the fuel standards set forth by the U.S. Energy Policy Act of 1992. Creating a steady growth of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) and associated infrastructure will displace the use of more polluting conventional fuel vehicles throughout the Granite State and help our entire region to be less reliant on fossil fuels. It will also expand clean corridor creation within the New England region by linking the alternative fuel infrastructure between contiguous states.

Goals:

  • To increase our national energy security by decreasing our country's dependence on imported foreign oil;
  • to improve air quality by reducing harmful vehicle emissions;
  • To promote local and national economic development by companies involved in the domestic alternative fuels industry.
  • Double the number of AFVs in New Hampshire from 196 to 392 by 2006
  • Expansion of alternative fuel refueling infrastructure
  • Advancement of clean air objectives
  • Greater fuel choices for consumers
  • Development of Clean Corridors nationwide
